Union United Church was filled to capacity as Montrealers joined the congregation in a celebratory service to observe the 52 anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence.
Reverend Miller of the United Church of Canada officiated, while church elder, Dr. Alwin Spence, himself a well-respected Jamaican-Montrealer served as worship leader.
Mr. George Grant, honorary consul for Jamaica at Montreal delivered the official address and read a letter from the Jamaican prime minister to mark the occasion.
