Healing Through the Hands: Audreia Fagan Brings Care and Relief to Montrealers

Audreia Fagan still laughs when she remembers the first time someone offered her a full-body massage. “I thought they were crazy,” she said. “I didn’t even know it was an industry.” Today, Fagan is the founder of Montreal Massotherapy Masters, a growing therapeutic massage practice helping Montrealers manage pain, relieve stress and reconnect with their bodies. But the path that led her there was anything but straightforward. Born and raised in downtown Montreal, Fagan grew up in the neighbourhoods around Westmount, Little Burgundy and Atwater. Asia Mason’s THE TIES THAT BIND

Marissa Ramnanan     Walking into the exhibition space in Maison de la culture de Côte-des-Neiges feels like a homecoming for anyone with Caribbean roots. Munching on pholourie, with rum punch sloshing in cups and calypso music playing faintly in the background—- it’s like being transported to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The only thing missing is the sound of birds chirping. “The Ties that Bind” was created by Trinidadian-Canadian artist Asia Mason and curated by Pat Dillon Moore. The space is a vision to behold. In my opinion, it’s an archival study of architecture, ancestry and political commentary. The …

Heading home after Hurricane Melissa

CTV News Montreal 5 p.m. Anchor Maya Johnson travelled to Jamaica to see the devastation and document the relief and rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall on Oct. 28, 2025. This article was first published on the CTV News Montreal website. As the Montreal-born daughter of Jamaican immigrants, I grew up navigating and embracing a blend of cultures. Eating patties, jerk chicken, and fried dumplings came just as naturally as buying fresh Montreal bagels. In high school I listened to the same music my friends were listening to, but it was really the old school reggae music I …

How Latoya Belfon Built LabWorks into a Home for Writers

When Latoya Belfon sat down to write her first book in 2020, her only goal was to learn how to publish it. She had no plans to start a company or guide others through the process. But as she launched her debut and shared it with her community, the encouragement she received was accompanied by questions—how did you do it? Where did you start? That steady stream of curiosity motivated her to share what she had learned and, before long, to create something enduring. “I never started out thinking I was going to be a publisher,” Belfon said to the …

This November, Black Theatre Workshop (BTW) returns to the Segal Centre for Performing Arts Studio with Our Place, a stirring and often humorous exploration of Canada’s immigration system. Picture Perfect

Fall is here and the echoes of summer festivals and late night gatherings fade, what remains are the images that kept those moments alive. From packed festival’s, BBQ to buzzing night events, much of what f illed our social media feeds came through the eyes of photographers. They are the storytellers behind the lens, the ones who transform temporary smiles, celebrations and vibrant nights into lasting memories. This fall, I would like to spotlight three who helped define how Montreal remembers this summer. Murddock, PsynDragon, and Brian Kotler of MTL Glamour Shots. I’ve had the chance to work with Murddock, …
