New outdoor fun, food and music at the Old Port
Montreal is 
known internationally as the city of festivals. From Jazz, comedy, reggae, beer and countless others, there’s always something catering to someone.
This summer, witness the revamp of the Taste of The Caribbean at the Old Port. After 15 very successful years producing the annual one-day event, founder Gemma Raeburn recently teamed up with clothing designer D-Emage Wear. They decided to take things to another level and offer a 3-day event showcasing tastes and sounds of the Caribbean.
D-Emage owner Maxwell Phillips invited friend and worldwide event coordinator Cezar Brumenau to join the team. Together with Gemma and other contributors they have put together 
something the city has never experienced. So June 26-28 witness for the first time a fusion of Caribbean cultures and arts. From kompas, reggae to soca, Taste of The Caribbean got you covered. Daily entry is free 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; evenings will cost you $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
Speaking with Cezar recently, he informed me that he’s been a part of TOTC for the past 5 years behind the scenes, providing sound and lighting. Planning began for this inaugural event started since 2014 to ensure an experience the city would not soon forget. On site there will be four professional chefs hailing from Barbados, Haiti, St. Vincent, and TNT twins Marida, who appeared on season one of master chef. They will all be providing live demos daily, free – noon to 3 p.m. Meals will vary in size and price from $2, $5, & $8.
Additional activities will include a swimsuit fashion show and full costume parade on the Sunday. For the kiddies there will be music workshops and face painting. Children under 12 are free; older is $5. For adults who want the ultimate experience, there’s a VIP tent daily. For $150 you get all-inclusive access: all you can eat and drink, all day long, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Musical theme on Friday night is Zouk and Kompas with headliner, J-Ron; Saturday is dancehall and reggae featuring Morgan Heritage; closing Sunday will feature legendary calypsonian, Might Gabby.
