JAMAICA ASSOCIATION INDEPENDENCE DAY COCKTAIL reception

An opportunity to say thanks Organizers extend a big ‘thank-you’ all who attended the Independence Cocktail held on Saturday, August 6 at the Jamaican Association Hall. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of cash prizes to winners of the essay competition sponsored by The Jamaica Gleaner Corporation. The competition focused on young adults expressing what aspect of Jamaican culture they felt is the best. Angel Roulez took first place for her essay on music, while Justice Manly placed second with his essay on food.  Janice Dayle, the Gleaner’s Montreal representative handed out the prizes.  Organizers also …

Good Deeds from Deliverance Church of God 7th Day

On the morning August 17, Sister Beverley Deroy made two significant donations on behalf of her church, Montreal Deliverance Church of God 7th Day to charities in the Montreal area. She presented a $500 cheque  to Veronique Salibur  of the  The Old Brewery Mission, who thanked the   “Deliverance Church of God 7th Day for their support and financial gift to the mission of the homeless men and women of Montreal.” A $300cheque was also presented to the NDG Food Depot and representative Caitlin Hayward expressed the gratitude of the institution that assist under-privileged people in the area. A T-shirt Day of fellowship and food at MWCOGOP

On Sunday, August 14,  an additional spark of excitement flowed through the usually electrified congregation at the Montreal West Church of God of Prophecy as they gathered for a celebration service and fellowship dinner. It was  T-Shirt Day and featured the congregation sporting the various colors of the church. The day started with an enlightened message from Pastor Joel Anderson on the benefits of “truly knowing those around you,” followed by a scrumptious dinner prepared by church members… enough to feed the multitudes that packed the church hall. For decades, Black activists have organized in response to police brutality, but part of the underlying reason for the visibility and nomenclature of the current Black Lives Matter movement is the fact that such problems have persisted, and even seem to escalate. Trini Revellers present an Independence Celebration Contact Staff On Sunday, August 28th, Trini Revellers will celebrate  the 54th Anniversary of Independence of Trinidad & Tobago with a mega show at  Caribbean Paradise Restaurant in LaSalle. The event will feature a full cast of artistes to entertain Montrealers  including calypsonians , comedy, drumming and dancing. The stage set for Reggae Fest 2016

This summer’s Montreal International Reggae Festival 2016, the largest outdoor reggae festival in Canada, is expected to be the best one.
