They call him the African King of Comedy

Michael Blackson is  one of the most original comedians on the circuit and each time he hits the stage,  leaves  audiences in stitches.
For the  Ghanaian-born laugh-master who honed his skills as a stand-up comic in the 1990s in  the tough comedy clubs of Philadelphia where audiences have little patience for beginners, it’s been a long road to the top
His big break came at a Los Angeles comedy club the Comedy Store, where actor/director Ice Cube who was in the house to see another comedian and was blown away by Blackson’s performance and invited the young, rising comedic star for a reading… in the smash big screen hit comedy “Next Friday.” His performance earned him praise and a mad fan following…and the rest is history.
In 2005, Blackson released his top-selling sketch comedy CD entitled, Modasuka, Welcome to America.
Today, they call him “the African King of Comedy,” and he  just keeps making  people laugh, with regular performances on BET’s Comic View series, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at Harlem, and Live in Hollywood.
He also makes regular guest appearances in some of the hottest music videos, and on stage in P. Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO. He also starred in a commercial for the Chappelle Show on Comedy Central.
Blackson continues to cut a swath in the world of comedy, headlining comedy clubs, university and other special events with his one-of-a kind, must-see stand-up performances.
And there’s no mistaking the African King of Comedy when he takes the stage, usually  clad in the finest dashikis, as symbol of his connection to the Motherland
In a lead-up to Christmas, Montrealers will have a chance to see the African King of Comedy when he makes a stop, along with Keesha Brownie, Cedric Newman and Guido Cocomello.
