For 20 years Selwyn Romilly was exemplary as judge in the Supreme Court of British Columbia before he retired in 2015. Before that he served as a judge in the Provincial Court of British Columbia for several years after practicing as a lawyer since 1967. As only the fourth Black person to graduate out of the University of British Columbia law school (The Peter A. Allard Law School), the Trinidad-born jurist was the first Black to serve in all those capacities in the province.
