An example for all fathers

An example for all fathers

God is Elohim Avinu…Avi-khol

This God who is Emmanuel, God with us. Among us, in us, around us; He is also the one that all of heaven adores, worships and exalts. He is the very light in the heavenlies. Revelation 21:23 tells us that “their city hath no need of the Sun, neither of the Moon to shine in it: for the glory of God did light it: and the Lamb is the light of it.”

There are creatures in heaven that go before the creator day after day and night after night and every time they look at HIM, they are completely baffled and dumbfounded at the amazing holiness and wonders of God; to the extent that each new look causes them to cry out HOLY HOLY HOLY!

Many would think… this Holy God, this majestic God, this big God is so far in the heavens simply waiting for us to make it to heaven.

On the contrary. This big, holy, majestic God seeks relationship with YOU, with me and will all mankind. He does not want to seem far; He came down in the person of Jesus Christ and He desires relationship with the only created beings that He made to be like Him, to look like Him and to be like Him.

Hmm, isn’t that much like a father? Wanting their children to take after them especially when they look just like daddy. Just like God, we are triune (Body, soul, Spirit) as He is a triune (Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit). We are 3-in-one. He teaches us through His Word how He is in order for us to follow after his character. Jesus exemplified this well when He said Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does (John 5:19).

It’s time for all of us to see that He is not only Jesus’s father. Jesus taught us this when His disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray. He demonstrated that we should begin by acknowledging OUR father in heaven. Recognize that He is a father. YOUR father and that He cares for you.

The very title of this article are Hebrew words that mean God the Father… the father of all. Let me give you some scriptures (HIS own word) to show you:

Isaiah 64:7 – “Yet, Lord, you are our father…

2 Corinthians 6:16b, 18 – “I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people… and I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

1 Corinthians 8:6 – “Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist.”

1 John 3:1 – “See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are.

Dear reader, do you know that God, our Heavenly Father, Loves YOU?

For many, they’ve not grown up with an earthly father. For others they know what it is to have a dad in the house but perhaps were treated well by the man whom they knew as father. Some have had great relationships with their father in their lifetime and either lost him too soon or still felt a void that daddy could not fill. That is because in all of these cases, the love of God stands supreme. God the Father is LOVE. He Loved YOU so much that He sent part of himself to be revealed to mankind and pay the penalty of sin to make a way for ALL his children to reconnect with him.
This plan had been in motion ever since the serpent deceived Eve in the garden of Eden.

There are some who are afraid to go to God because they only see Him as this great deity. However, He is YOUR father and He desires relationship with you. He wants to walk and talk with you in the cool of the day as He had previously done with Adam. He wants to have you close to him to give you words of wisdom, of counsel and words of life and love.

Do not be afraid to go to the Lord. In Isaiah 1:8 He says
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD”

The way to HIM is through Jesus… the way to connect with Him is in talking to Him (prayer). He is a good good father. He cares about your dreams and your aspirations. He cares about your health and your wellbeing. He encourages us that we have no need to worry because He will take care of us and provide for us.

Fathers, have you taken up the example of our Heavenly Father?

As we approach the time to recognize fathers… I encourage fathers to recognize THE Father in heaven. He is YOUR model, YOUR example and most importantly fathers; He is YOUR helper.

Blessings
