This year the community outdid itself in making Fashion For A Cause a signature event in Montreal.
Over 500 Montrealers shared in the glitz and the glamour of the evening on Saturday, October 10, at the elegantly outfitted Town of Mont Royal Hall.
The splendor of the evening reflected in every step of every model that sashayed along the extended runway, ripping it with elegance and confidence as they displayed the styles of featured designers and fashion houses.image-10
Organizers Janice Small-Wright, Aileen McCalla and Dawn McNicols gushed with satisfaction over an event that continues to showcase the best of our community when it comes to generosity and support.
This year they were able to raise a hefty $7,900 part of which will go to the Tristan Williams Foundation which helps raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and improve the quality of life for young adults living with the disease.
That evening, Williams, founder of the Foundation, defied some physical challenges and made a courageous appearance at the event where he delivered an impressive testimony on standing-up to his illness and on the glory of volunteering.
Organizers say the event was also made special by the extraordinary efforts of the army of designers, models, makeup artists, hair stylists and volunteers.
And they extended “thank-yous” to caterers, Gourmet by Design, spoken-word artist Blu Rva (Roen Higgins) and to local RnB sensation Daniel Keys.
Acknowledging that “it takes team work to make a dream work,” organizers also lauded the efforts of Edwina Dei (A Dei Events) event planner and decorator, Charlene McFarlane (2 Can Win Public Relations) Aisha Delpeche, project/stage director and Andrea Hall (Style Therapy) fashion consultant in making the 2015 vision a reality.
Two community luminaries served as hosts for the evening: Catherine Verdon-Diamond CityTV Breakfast Television and impresario, Ricardo Daley a 2015 Black History Month Laureate.
And Montreal Alouettes Ky Hebert and Billy Parker, together with Adrian Holmes of the hit television show 19-2, brought star power to the event.
Organizers are looking to 2016 with enthusiasm and high expectations. The 5th Annual Rip The Runway Montreal will be raising awareness to five mental health issues: Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Schizophrenia.
They are calling on volunteers and sponsors to get on board early. 514-690-0836, 514-232-1947, 514-951-3194.
