50 Years, 570 Scholarships/Bursaries and Still Giving!!

Rosie

In the summer of 1972, Reverend Frank Gabourel, then minister of Union United Church, proposed a scholarship in memory of Reverend Dr. Charles H. Este who had ministered at Union United Church for 40 years. Scholarships would be awarded annually to students in the black community pursuing post-secondary education.

In 1973, the first Rev. Dr. Charles H. Este scholarships were awarded to 5 black students.

In 2024 the scholarship still prevails and the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Este Scholarship and Bursary Committee is calling upon black students to apply for a scholarship.

To qualify, students must complete and return an application form, accessible on the Union United Church website, http://www.unionunitedchurchmtl.ca. by April 30th,2024.

Scholarships are awarded during the third Sunday service at Union United Church, THANKS to the the kind and conscientious donors at Union and the community at large.
