On Saturday, February 23, audiences at the annual Monnaie-Money show were treated to a spectacular event at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, Concordia University Loyola Campus, celebrating its 9th anniversary.
The annual showcase of youth talent in Montreal kicked off   Black History Month 2019 in fine style with a line-up of stirring performances from young dancers, singers, rappers, spoken-word artists and musicians.
They all shone brightly, but a few distinguished themselves enough to end up in the winners row.
Standing tall among them all was spoken word artist Kathleen Charles who wowed the crowd and earned the judges’ nod for the  grand prize of $1000 and a trip to Miami, courtesy of Sunwing Vacations.
Other winners include:
Vocal Performance: The Fitz-Patrick Sisters
Rap Performance: Rhythm
Senior Dance: Loyal-T
Junior Dance:  Equilibrium Juniors
The event was organized and coordinated by Brian Smith  and Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Côte-des-Neiges who handed out a Lifetime Achievement Award to Bryon Spence, a long-serving restaurateur and owner of  Jah-B Restaurant.
It was sponsored by TD Canada Trust, Canadian Heritage and Sunwing Vacations.
