10-week session at the J’ca Assoc.
Find inner peace and strength with Yoga

Contact Staff

Community members seeking to find inner peace and purifying their body while relieving tension and stiffness through the art of breathing and stretching are invited to a ten-week yoga session for beginners at the Jamaica Association on Wednesday mornings beginning this April.
Mark Callender, a certified Ashtanga yoga teacher who has been practicing and teaching for the past 10 years, will lead the classes.
Callender, a native of Barbados who says he unknowingly started perfecting his yoga moves on the beach at home in the Caribbean where he was doing hand stands, back bends lotus and spinal twist, was introduced to the art-form while living in Vancouver in 2000.
He received his formal training and eventual certification under master Yoga trainer Larry Schults in San Francisco, where he completed a 200-hours teachers training course.
Knowing the overwhelming benefits that Yoga can bring to people’s lives, he is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with community members. Classes are Wednesdays at 10:30 AM.
