About James Bond,Vybz Kartel and Popcaan

I confess that I have been covering a lot of Soca-oriented topics in my articles this summer. It’s only because this is a period when Soca music and Caribbean Carnival festivals are in a rage all over North America.
For lovers of Dancehall and Reggae there’s a lot goings-on, including news that Vybz Kartel is awaiting the verdict of his appeal and Popcaan’s new album, “Forever”, is considered to be one of the best dancehall projects released in the past few years.
But before I get into the international reggae news, let me take this moment to congratulate someone who is not only a friend but one of Montreal’s top Dancehall/Reggae Djs, “James Bond”, who was born James Kornecook, and got the nickname from his peers in his younger days.
On Saturday, July 28, James Bond married his long-time sweetheart and mother of his child, Cheryl Wynne, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
Congratulations to the happy couple. I join other Montrealers on the entertainment circuit in wishing you both all the happiness you deserve, and may the bond of your love be strengthened at all times.
Keep the faith, and love and trust each other.
A three-judge panel in the Jamaica Court of Appeal are hearing arguments from both sides in the case involving Vybz Kartel and his co-accused Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John who are all now serving life sentences for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams on August 16, 2011.
They have maintained their innocence and their lawyers have put forward some exploding revelations about prosecutorial misconduct and perceived bias by the trial judge.
They are now patiently awaiting their appeal verdict.
On July 20, Popcaan released his second album called “Forever” via Mixpak. It features the two new hit singles “Wine For Me” and “Firm  & Strong.”
Popcaan status has only risen in America since the 2014 album “Where We Come From”, with the hit single “Ova Dweet” in 2016, and high-profile guest appearances on Jamie xx’s “I Know There’s Gonna Be Good Times” and a leaked early version of Drake’s “Controlla.”
Checkout his new album, I highly recommend it.
