Four Montrealers are among 100 Black women across Canada who have been identified for acclaim because of their contributions and their achievements.
The four, Juanita Westmoreland Traore, Quebec’s first Black judge, Dr. Dorothy Wills, educator and community builder, Dr. Dorothy Williams, historian and author, and Gemma Raeburn-Baynes, community activist were part of a gala event held in Toronto on June 16, with over 700 guests in attendance.
The women’s exploits are documented in a book entitled: 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women, co-authored by Dr. Hon. Jean Augustine, Dauna Jones-Simmonds and Dr. Denise O’Neil Green
