Nompumelelo Moyo (LJI) and Egbert Gaye Audley Coley, Kirk Gayle and Brian Smith have become well known in our community just by their but they have also made their mark on Montreal through their individual efforts to empower and improve the lives of others. The three, who claim Jamaica in their heritage were honored late last year by the Jamaica Association of Montreal for their work, some of which extend beyond our community and well into the realm of Canada-wide recognition. Jamaica 60th Cake Cutting

On Sunday, August 7, a specially invited group of Montrealers gathered at the Jamaica Association of Montreal for the cake-cutting ceremony to mark the 60th Anniversary of Independence of Jamaica. The event included a prayer from Pastor Joel Anderson of the Mtl West Church of God of Prophecy, Independence memories from former president of the association, Glen Gunning, as well as long-serving members and proud Jamaicans Mr. Lloyd Shaw and Ms. Paula Williams. J’ca Assoc. continues to serve with new board in place

Rosie Awori (LJI) On Saturday, December 11, officers and members of the Jamaica Association of Montreal pulled out all the stops to ensure that their annual general meeting and election of officers was carried out. Since the start of the pandemic, COVID-19 has cut a wide swath of destruction across our community, disproportionately infecting Blacks and other minorities in and around the Montreal, as it has in major cities around North America.
