Heads, Hearts And Hands In Disunity
Regarding: The article penned for Mr. Leonard Wharwood Jr. in the Montreal Community Contact dated July 13th 2017.
I see long names, big titles, but no positive actions taken. The question to Mr. Wharwood Jr. and the Community Contact is, was it necessary to write an article highlighting the ineptitude of Mr. Wharwood Jr. and the organizations to which he is affiliated. Let me rephrase, Grenada Day in Toronto started in 2006. Also, we are all familiar with Jamaica Day and Trini Day for decades here in Montreal. Therefore, neither the concept of a day to represent one’s country nor the idea is new. There was plenty of opportunity for Mr. Wharwood’s organization to be the sole representative of Grenada Day to the Montreal Community; however, no steps had been taken. Is this announcement about sole control and maybe the few pennies? Does anyone know how Grenada Day in Toronto got started?
Anyway, I along with many others propose that all involved work together. Your discovery of our desire for a Grenada Day in Montreal should not ignore that someone has already put both time and effort into fulfilling this need for the community on July 22nd 2017. Surely, your title and connections could only improve the experience for Montreal’s West Indian Community. After all, I am certain everyone can agree this is an event to give the community the Grenadian experience.
What is the Grenadian experience? When the earth quakes everyone feels it. When a hurricane blows through, rain and wind are everywhere. Whether its mourning the death of a national hero or celebrating the victory of an Olympic Champion the Grenadian experience is a shared experience. If the event is about Grenada, it should also showcase the best positives of Grenadians.
So have a drink of rum and coconut, and work together. Grenadians may God bless you.
