The world at large remains in a state of awe regarding the extraordinary re-election of Donald Trump to the White House as the 47th president, and this time with no calls and shouts of discounting/ recounting, results/ insults, overseas card or voter fraud. This time no one can attach the moniker “liar” to his name, as he is carrying out exactly what he said he would do–impose his vision to Make America Great Again and re-alter the political and cultural landscape of the nation. On April 28, 2025, Mr. Trump attained 100 days in Office, and the nation and by extension world leaders are doing their level best to keep up with the dizzying array of executive orders, directives, firings, policy changes,
rifts, tariffs, migrant deportation, immigration, patrol agents and border orders. He renewed his assault on the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, blaming him for endangering what he said was an imminent peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, also universities by signing executive orders cracking down on college accreditation. The White House staff secretary, Will Scharf, said the third-party groups that accredited universities had relied on “woke ideology” rather than merit. Harvard University sued the Trump administration to unfreeze $2.2bn in federal funds just days after the Ivy League college had rebuffed an ultimatum aimed at forcing it into radical reforms in how it is governed. The move represented an intensified pushback spearheaded by the world’s wealthiest university to the President’s efforts to force higher education institutions into major concessions that critics say amount to infringements on academic freedom. The University’s president accused the Administration of trying to “gain control of decision making at Harvard”.
Donald has turned the White House into his own estate, with him being the fief and by proxy the country as vassals.
Every infuriating series of petty comments about how Black folks could not possibly be qualified to do the job they were hired for beggars the question: Have we no Black leaders who can push back against Trump? Where are they? Why no say?
Harriet Tubman escaped her chains during chattel slavery and became a conductor on the Underground Railroad, while Frederick Douglass, a former slave who learned to read and write, took a different approach and put pen to paper. He wrote as well as spoke forcefully against slavery.
Everyone in that time did their part to help those who looked like them
In the years following slavery, Booker Taliaferro Washington wrote the book “Up From Slavery” and argued for what he thought would greatly help former slaves. He thought that Black people needed economic independence the most. Time has proven that, in fact, he was, wrong:
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, an American sociologist, historian, and Pan-Africanist civil rights activist, and a contemporary of Washington, passionately disagreed with the former slave and argued that what was most needed was civil rights. The list could go on ad infinitum There was Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X; Then there are the more controversial folks like activist Marcus Garvey. These were all leaders who saw that Black people were in need, and, out of love, took it upon themselves to try to provide leadership.
I do hope that my point is as clear and pellucid as it can be
Any time there was a threat to Black America, there was always Black leaders who stepped up and tried to provide a vision for the future. Each of those mentioned above sacrifice for the betterment of the Black race.
So where are our leaders now? How? Who will stump Trump?
Hopefully, all humans with fully functioning craniums are aware that Trump poses a real and present threat to America in general and Black people in particular. He opposes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives and is working diligently to eradicate them from the country. On January 29, 2025, he signed an executive order that he hopes will defund K-12 schools that teach Critical Race Theory. (Something most schools do not teach.). His message is clear: Do not teach the truth about American history. Teach only those parts that I approve.
This is the time for leaders. Now or Never! . Many in America are disheartened that Trump is back in the White House, but Black people cannot afford to be sad or get mad. —we are under attack. In days gone by, when Blacks were treated like they are today, a leader would arise.
There are no transcendent, earth-shattering Black leader like there were in years gone by. They are just not around. Is it because of social media? Or have we become too cynical to follow any leader?
Whatever may be the reason, we do not have one. And we are all the worse for it.
Black leaders are needed, to have their say and stop Donald Trump from having his way. SILENCE is not an OPTION
Aleuta continua The struggle continues
