Montreal’s Stylist of The Year 2019
The hair and beauty business has been part of Natalie Nicole Geddes’ life for as long as she can remember, (her mom ran a hair-salon in NDG) and she was honing her skills since she was 13, and then working professionally by 18.
From early, she never compromised when it came the work or service she offered her customers.
“I push myself over the limit to prove to my people that I can do what others can do and do it well,” she says.
So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that she was able to snag the Stylist Of The Year title at the Montreal Hair and Beauty Awards show staged for the first time on December 1, downtown.
“I honestly wasn’t expecting to have an award this big this soon,” says Geddes who established her business officially in 2017 after working for several years as a nurse.
She knows that hard work pays off and credits her success and growth as a hair stylist to the passion and dedication that she invests in her work.
As a result she says her client base has been growing like wild fire, primarily through word of mouth.
“Before my social media was strong, I found that a lot of people knew my work from word of mouth. I would get referrals from people who would see my work on other people and their interest would peak.”
She rode the wave of this by quickly ensuring she built a good social media presence and consistently showcasing her work.
She expanded her mini beauty empire from hair services to her D.K.N.D product line consisting of edge control, stimulating growth oil, reusable mink lashes as well as a one-of-a-kind state of the art flat iron.
She is a firm believer of knowing one’s worth and acting in that capacity.
“No one is going to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself. I set a high standard for myself and so I would never undercharge myself.”
Looking to the future Geddes, a mother of three, hopes to have her own space that would incorporate all the services she offers in the hair and beauty industry, including the wide range of products and supplies that she intends to introduce to the Montreal market.
As she has shown in the little time that she has been in business, Natalie Nicole Geddes could be unstoppable.
