True soca ambassador but First love was reggae

Production Sounds new
For one reason or the other, almost everyone I meet thinks my love for music is only Soca.
Truth is nothing can be further from the truth. When I migrated to Montreal, everyone was into Reggae/Dancehall and I saw a void in the Soca scene, which I have decided to fill.
Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago you would think Soca was my first love. Well nope, it’s Reggae for sure. My love for Reggae/Dancehall music started as early as I can remember, but I took it to heart in the year 1995. That’s the year I began walking in my father’s footsteps as a Dj, practicing at home and during sound checks.
I remember the year 1995 because that was the year I got the nickname “BUJU or RANKS” by other Djs. Reason for that was because at every event I was either holding Buju Banton’s album, “TIL SHILOH” or Shabba Ranks LP “GET UP STAND UP.”
I grew up listening to all types of music, especially reggae music; it’s in my heart, spirit and soul forever. Being a big fan of Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks in my childhood days, only in Montreal was I fortunate enough to see Buju Banton perform live. Shabba Ranks, on the other hand, I never saw perform and I’ve been waiting for him to touch Montreal.
Seems as if my wait is finally over. A broadcast was sent out on May 8th by Montreal International Reggae Festival announcing the four headliners for the 12th edition of the festival to be held August 14 to 16 at the Old Port. The four artists are Beres Hammond, Lady Saw, Cocoa Tea and

Shabba Ranks.
I love Soca music, and teshabband to promote more, but Reggae plays an important role in my music preferences today. Nuff thanks to the legend, Bob Marley, for his contribution to the spread of Reggae music.

Remembering Bob
Let us notbob_marley forget this year is the 34th anniversary of the death of Robert Nesta Marley. He died of cancer on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36. On Thursday, May 23, 1981, he was given an official funeral by the people of Jamaica, which was attended by both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. Bob Marley’s body was taken to his birthplace where it now rests in a mausoleum.
