SVAGAM puts a new slate of officers in place

The SVGAM convened its 50th Annual General Meeting on Sunday, December 6, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, and celebrated 50 consecutive years of democratically electing the board of executives to run the association for 2016.
About 50 members turned out and contributed to discussions about the various programs and activities that are part of the association’s annual agenda, such as Vincy Brunch, Anniversary Banquet, Bus Trip to 1000 Islands, Unity Picnic at Browns Bay, SVGAM BBQ, Church service, Children’s Christmas party and Support for Various Caribbean/community Banquets and programs as well as funding help to nationals and projects in SVG.
Members showed keen interest in the elections and there were several hotly contested positions where members saw need for change.
Jack Dear retained his position as president, a milestone achievement as he was returned to office for a fifth consecutive term. He was also elected to serve as treasurer. The full slate of officers include: Alfred “Jack” Dear, president; Rosmond Ryan, vice president; Roxanne Cambridge, secretary; Nicole John, assistant secretary; treasurer is also Alfred “Jack” Dear; Angela Gurley, PRO, and Leo St. Hillaire,    Jackie Parris    and Abigail Dick will serve as members at large.
