Hanging with David and Faith

Former Montrealer teams up with T&T hard-hitting producer

Production Sounds new
Many readers know that the legendary Bajan Soca
Artist “Edwin Yearwood” performed in Montreal on Friday, August 21, at V Lounge and may be wondering how it went.
It was my first time taking in Edwin’s performance, but I know that he can always be counted on to have partygoers
singing all the Krosfyah hit songs, such as Obadele, Pump Me Up, Sak Passe, Dushi, Good Time, Last Man Standing, Wet Me any more.
It was definitely a Bajan Invasion that night, as I saw more Bajan partygoers than ever before.
But to my surprise, in the midst of the bacchanal, after Edwin’s performance I saw noted T&T music producer David Millien.
He is someone I was introduced to a few years ago in Trinidad by a mutual friend.
David told me he was just passing through Montreal on some david
quick business as he is gearing up for Trinidad and Tobago 2016 carnival season. I suggested we organize a lime and chat before catching his flight back to T&T and he agreed.
Millien’s company MILLBEATZ ENTERTAINMENT produces top quality music for artistes across Trinidad and Tobago, the rest of the Caribbean and beyond, everything from R&B to Reggae, Soca, Dancehall, Gospel and Alternative.
Over the years, he has worked with almost every popular Soca artist as well as produced some of the more popular Soca riddims on the carnival circuit, such as “Project 5 Riddim, Curry Que Riddim, Millject Riddim, No Stress Riddim and many more.
When we got together, David introduced me to Faith
Antoine, an artist he has been working alongside.
Faith Antoine is a young Canadian-born singer, a former Montrealer who spent time in Toronto and Vancouver before moving to T&T, where her dad is from.
Some might remember her performance at the 2006 Montreal Reggae Festival when she was still a teenager.
Faith Antoine most recent success came in the 2015 International Groovy Soca Monarch when she made it into the semi-final with her hit single “Like It” which was written by Faith, Dale Ryan, Daniel Payson and Millien, and produced by Millbeatz Entertainment.
It was nice hanging out with David and Faith, who is as humble as she is talented.
We passed through Cote des Neiges and decided to go sightseeing and ended up at Saint Joseph’s Oratory and Mount Royal Lookout.
David and Faith believe that their 2015 success was just a
stepping stone for future projects that they are currently working on.
Their eyes are set at making a big splash in T&T and North America in the coming months.
