Young Nigerian Heartthrob coming to Olympia on April 6th
By Rosie Awori
Whenever Nigerian heartthrob Davido takes to the stage, audiences are guaranteed an electrifying, powerful and refreshing performance.
Such is the power and appeal of the young and dynamic Afrobeat performer.
With a string of epic singles such as, Aye. Skelewu, Damediro, that have dominated the charts all over the continent of Africa, it is no wonder that he has already received international recognition.
At 26, the Atlanta-born artist has already signed a major record deal with Sony and has churned out hits such as Obo, Flora my flower and If.
He has received international recognition and gone on to collaborate with well-known acts such as, Rae Sremmurd, Young Thug and Tinashae.
Although born in the U.S., Davido’s sound has remained authentically African, with songs packed with the rhythmic beats of Africa and fueled by his hypnotizing husky vocals.
Having attended one of his live and fully charged shows in Kenya in 2015, I can attest to the high energy and thrilling on-stage presence that he brings.
After an illustrious pyrotechnic entrance, he psyched the crowd up with his one-hour stand-alone performance highlighted by hit tracks from his early days up to his international crowd bangers.
In the crowd, we danced wildly and sang to each and every song.
Montrealers now have a chance to experience the globally adored Nigerian superstar, who will be coming to town on April 6th at L’Olympia.
Other artists performing at this event are Spri Noir from France and UNI-T a local Ottawa/Montreal group.
The show is courtesy of Afrobeats Montreal, who is responsible for bringing Afrobeats acts such as Tekno, Skales and Flavour to town the past few years.
