Ijah’s Forever Blaze on Nov. 7

Ijah Iba has been on the local dancehall circuit for a couple years now and has been steadily making inroads with his infectious style.

He stands out from others by his meticulous mix of what he describes as” light dancehall, conscious roots reggae, hip hop fusion as well as  combining  soulful vocals with DJing skills.”
And the man has a passion for his music.
On November 7, dancehall lovers in Montreal have an opportunity to check him out as he launches his mix-tape Forever Blaze in what is expected to be a massive party blowout at the Blue Print Lounge 1438 Bluery.
He will be joined on stage by a line up of other Montreal top performer s including Kes and will two top DJs to help with the launch, James Bond and Dru. The evening will be hosted by Ms. Rebelle.
Ijah remains a part of the DPC Movements Records crew.

B’dos House Banquet on Nov. 14

The Barbados House Montreal Inc. in conjunction with the office of the High Commissioner of Barbados presents Banquet and Ball 2015.
And they are inviting Montrealers to celebrate with them on November 14 at Le Living Room 5687 Pare, Mont-Royal.
In addition to scrumptious dinning the evening will include non-stop entertainment.
Gold Tickets (Both Banquet & Ball) are $80 while Silver Tickets (Ball only) are $30). SNS Catering will provide Hors d’oeuvres & dinner and one special entrant will win the door prize of a trip for two to Barbados. Pre-Christmas and Gospel Concert

The St. Kitts & Nevis Cultural Association Of Montreal will be hosting their Pre-Christmas Gospel Concert on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 5-8pm at the Caribbean Paradise Restaurant. The location for the event is 8080 Newman Blvd., La Salle. Live artist and bands will be performing. Proceeds go towards the association’s children Christmas program and its scholarship program. MCSO Dinner and Dance

The Montreal Caribbean Social Organization INC. Presents their 38th Annual Dinner & Dance on Saturday November 14th, 2015. Cocktails begin at 7pm, Dinner starts at 8pm and the dance is until 3am. On The Burgundy the Big Screen on Nov. 11

On Their Shoulders present “Little Burgundy On The Burgundy the Big Screen.” The Cinematic Soiree will features three films: Ame Noire-Black Souls by Martine Chartrand, Music The Key Of Oscar by W.M. Cunningham and Sylvia Sweeney and Sitting In Limbo by John N. Smith. The event will be held on November 11th 2015 at Le Salon 1861, 540 Richmond St., Montreal from 4pm-9pm.
Organizers are asking for a donation of $5.00. Food and drinks will be served.

Dominica Stand Tall on Nov. 7

The Dominica Island Cultural Association invites Montrealers to  to celebrate their 37th Anniversary of Independence with a Humanitarian Fundraiser in support of victims of tropical Storm Erika. The theme of the event is “Dominica Stand Tall, Montreal’s Got your Back.” The event will be held on November 7th,  Le Manior (Upper Level), 5319 Notre Dame De Grace Road at 7:30pm. Dress code is semi-formal.

Koala Readings

There will be a double book launch at paragraphe bookstore November 12 from 6 pm with H. Nigel Thomas and Naim Kattan. Join them at librairie paragraphe bookstore for the launch of “No Safeguards” by H. Nigel Thomas and “Farida” by Naim Kattan (translated by Norman Cornett and Antonio D’Alfonso).

Evening of Blessings on Dec. 19
On Saturday December 19, Atlantic Driving School would be hosting an evening of blessings, a community dinner and entertainment at St. Ignatias Loyola Church 4455 West Broadway from 6:30pm to 11pm. 25 Christmas hampers will be given to ticket holders. Proceeds go to less fortunate families in the community. 50 holiday baskets will go to families, there will be buffet style dining and entertainment with live performances.

JCCLM Banquet on Nov. 21

On Saturday November 21, 2015 the Jamaican Canadian Community Women’s of Montreal Inc. will be celebrating their 15th Anniversary Banquet (Dinner & Dance).  This prestigious event will take place at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 6600 Côte-de-Liesse.
This event allows the organization to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year with the community.
The JCCWLM under the leadership of the Founder and President, Miss Ivyline Fleming has presented programming and projects which have focused on Civic Participation, Financial Literacy, Computer Skills, Senior Issues and Youth Topics just to name a few.  The organization has also given out in the past numerous scholarships and bursaries to nursing students.
The JCCWLM would like the whole community to come out and celebrate with them on what plans to be a very special night.
