Blues in the West Island on June 16

For the past several years’ audiences have been flocking to the West Island Blues Fest to enjoy a full day of eating, drinking and partying late into the night.
This year, the big outdoor party is on June 16 at Dollard-des-Ormeaux Park, DDO, and promises to be just as much fun. Headlining this year’s event is top Montreal dance band, 5 Avenues who will be joined on stage by several big-name artistes, including Brian Greenaway Blues Bus.
And as usual, the day will be filled with other goodies, including Caribbean delicacies, drinks and games for the kids.
Several West Island organizations and charities, such as West Island Black Community Association, Alzheimer Group Incorporated, Literacy Unlimited, Action Jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’ille (AJOI) will benefit from the proceeds.
Jekalyn Carr Comes to Montreal

Author and Grammy nominated contemporary gospel artist Jekalyn Carr will be live in Montreal at House of Mercy Ministry, 545 Rue Legendre West on August 11th 7:00 PM.
Her repertoire of songs includes the award-winning song, You’re Bigger, from her fourth album The Life project.
At only 21 she has shared the stage with icons and legends, such as Tasha Cobbs, and even appeared on Oprah’s TV show, Greenleaf.
Thanks to her supremely soulful voice and inspirational performances, she won her first Stellar Award at age 16 for her sophomore album Its Gonna Happen.
Summer Jobs for students
The Black Coalition of Quebec is looking for students to work for 10 weeks during the summer program from June 11 to August 17, 2018. These students must be active and will return to school for the fall session. They will be paid on a weekly basis, based on 30h @ 12.50$ per hour.

JAMAICA DAY on July 7
Come and experience Jamaica in a day. On Saturday July 7th from 12 PM to 11 PM at Parc Jean-Drapeau. With a great line- up of artists such as, Blessed, Dan “Fiyah” Beats and Fiyah Flames Band. The event will be hosted by King Shadrock and is bound to be an amazing experience.

Bridgette and Soso at Vincy Family PICNIC
The annual Vincy Picnic at Brown’s Bay in 1000 Islands, Ontario will feature two big international stars this year, July 21.
Bridget Blucher will be performing at the Picnic for the third time. This year she will be celebrating her 20th anniversary of Gospel music and will be launching her new CD.
Also expected to perform is Winston Soso, known as the Rolls Royce of calypso.
Children’s games and a Bouncing Castle will be featured.
A large gathering is expected as usual where people take the time to renew acquaintances in a family atmosphere.

The Grenada Association of Montreal invites Montrealers to its Annual Harvest on June 16, at Le Manoir, from 5pm to 10 pm. Music will be provided by DJ Fireball.
