South Shore BHM Activities
On February 7, the South Shore Black Community Association will honor Mr. Richard Lord (posthumously) life achievements from 3pm to 6pm at St. Joseph Anglican Church, 725 Provencher, Brossard. Refreshments will be served. On February 17, from 7pm to 9pm Dr. Dorothy Williams will be speaking on the history of Blacks in Montreal. Bring a friend to the Brossard Library (free to the public), 7855 Avenue San Francisco, Brossard. Black Moses BHM on Feb 15
On Sunday February 15, Black Moses Promotions bring you the annual Black History Month celebration. BHM Blood Drive on Feb. 21
On Saturday February 21, The Round Table On Black History Month encourages all citizens to participate in a blood drive. On Friday February 20, the Universal Negro Improvement association is having a Black history month event Maya Angelo Still I Rise with spoken word, songs, music, theatre featuring performing artists Black theatre workshop, Odessa Thornhill, Jonathan Emile, Coco Thompson, Dr. Clarence Bayne, Julian McIntosh, Fred Anderson and Narrator Mervyn Weekes from 6pm to 8pm. Chocolate Jungle Love Roots Edition
On Friday February 20, 2 Marvelous and Smitty City bring you Chocolate Jungle Black History Month Love Roots edition. The chocolate jungle dancers, DJ Keith Dean and host Todd Smith will be at Le Belmont, 4483 St. Laurent Boulevard from 10pm to 3am. There will be special themed drinks and soul food. BHM Festival Feb. 21-22
The Montreal International Black History Month Festival’s goal is to promote Black History through the arts & culture, break stereotypes and educate on Black people’s contribution to society. On Saturday February 21st, come out at 8pm for a Soul / R&B concert featuring old & new artists singing meaningful songs from Louis Armstrong to Aliyah. On Sunday February 22nd at 1pm, enjoy a film on Afican vs. African Americans followed by a film discussion at 3:30pm then at 5pm, listen to some inspiring spoken word at a Poetry event.
