Organizers are projecting that they will be bringing in more than 5,000 fun loving Montrealers to Vinet Parc in Little Burgundy on Saturday, July 13, as the city celebrates Spice Island Cultural Day Extravaganza.”
The event, a celebration of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, now in its second year, will be a potpourri of music, food and arts and crafts on display.
It promises to be a weekend of all things Grenada with the coming of the country’s prime minister, Dr. The Right Honorable Keith C. Mitchell,
who will be here on Friday, July 12, at a Town Hall at Ruby Foos Hotel, 7655 Decarie Blvd. from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Several businesses, corporations and government departments will also be on hand to inform Grenadians and interested Montrealers of opportunities in the Isle of Spice.
Among the groups accompanying PM Mitchell are The Grenada Communal Co-operative Credit Union, which will feature the services of Barry’s Engineering, Century21 Grenada Grenadines and The Communal Co-operative Credit Union.
The presentation will highlight investment opportunities in the Real Estate Market, investments and affordable building opportunities in Grenada.
The action heats up on Saturday, July 13, when Vinet Park will come alive with the sound of music and the aromas of the island under the theme: “A Taste of the Spice.”
Organizers are inviting guests to browse the multitude of vendors who will be on-site with everything from Caribbean spice teas, a variety of Grenadian desserts as well as other culinary delights such as Oil Down, (Grenada’s national dish), Seafood, Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, Curry Goat and lots of other great Caribbean cuisine.
The line-up of performers include the island’s top calypsonians and Soca stars Shortpree, three times National Groovy Soca Monarch of Grenada and Boyzie, four times Soca Monarch of Grenada; along with Montreal’s internationally popular Jab Jab Orchestra.
Other performers include Kenny C out of Toronto, Montreal’s Doggies, Delta Antoine, Love Man Kent, Jenny and Jenna Noel, Gospel Sensations Zina Edwards and the Fitz-Patrick Sisters and more.
Dancers and cultural performers include West Can Dancers, West Can Youth Stilt Walkers, The Grenada Ensemble and the Shooting Stars Shortknee Dancers.
Opening the show will be Champion Boxer Diizon Belfon putting the audience through an exercise routine; come early to catch him and get in the mood for eight hours of fun, food and friends.
Also making the trip from home will be the internationally popular Ms. Shirma Wells, aka Auntie Shirma, on hand to serve as host for the day.
