Free Flu Vaccine at Curry House on Nov. 14

Contact Staff

On November 14, from 5 to 7PM Dr. Lenny Aladdin will be back at the Caribbean Curry House, 6802 Victoria Avenue, for third year in his campaign to provide free flu vaccines to the community.
Over the past two years, he has been doing his best to encourage people in the community and beyond to get the flu shot in order to protect themselves and those around them from what is a potentially debilitating seasonal health menace.
He warns against complacency
“We shouldn’t fool ourselves, this vaccine is the most effective way to arm the body against what is potentially a very harmful virus,” he told the Contact last year.
“Many live with parents, grand-parents, pregnant women and children, some work in hospitals and other institutions where they are among sick people, all of whom are at-risk for the flu,” he says. “So it’s not just about you, it’s about those around you.”
“And the best way to deal avoid getting the flu or passing on to others is through preventative action. The flu vaccine is preventative medicine.”
Every year, hundreds of thousands of Canadians are floored by the flu, which attacks with
bouts of fever, body aches, headache, cough,  congestion. fatigue and some times in children, vomiting and diarrhea so much so that the government has been issuing seasonal advisories for people to get vaccinated.
