Reggae Fest 2016

The 13th edition of the Montreal International Reggae Festival (MIRF) takes place on August 26, 27 and 28, at the Old Port with another stellar line-up of international and local stars.

This year, big names such as Cocoa Tea and Barrington Levy will join Dancehall sensations Mavado and Vershon and other stars such as Sanchez, Jahmiel and Romain Virgo and bring another exciting weekend of reggae music of the city.
This outpouring of Reggae music will command your attention!

Friday, the doors open at 4 and the shows start at 5 P.M. Saturday and Sunday, the doors open at 3 and show time is from 4pm to 11pm. Tickets purchased in advance will cost $30; $65 and $55 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday consecutively. The Weekend Pass is available for $130 and $120 for seniors and students. A special early bird weekend pass is available for $110 – while quantities last. All tickets will cost more at the door. VIP Passes cost $300 and they are only available in advance. The VIP pass includes all MIRF events: the sound clash; 3 days at the Old Port of Montreal; the after party on Saturday; A MIRF souvenir; and one complimentary beverage each day at the Old Port of Montreal.

MCSO Cultural Day July 30
M.C.S.O presents their fifth Annual Cultural Day Celebration on the weekend of July 30-31 2016. Located at 7401, Newman Parking Lot. Live performances by Montreal’s top artists. Emancipation Day at UNIA
Universal Negro Improvement Association & A.C.L. cordially invite people of African descent and their friends to celebrate Emancipation Day on Monday 01st August 2016 from 7pm – 9pm at 2741 Notre-Dame Street West (Metro Lionel-Groulx). This event will feature guest speaker Dr. Nigel Thomas, writer and retired professor.

Teen Talent Contest
Members of Prince Hall Grand Lodge will be hosting their annual Teen Talent Contest on August 5th 2016. The event will take place at The Holiday Inn Montreal Airport, 6500 Cote de Liesse at 7:30pm. If you sing, dance, play an instrument or have any other talent and are between the ages of 12 -19, we invite you to come and participate in this worthwhile competition! Jubilee Family Picnic
The Guyana Ottawa and Montreal Cultural Associations presents Jubilee Family Picnic, Celebrating 50 years of Guyana’s Independence on Saturday 13th August 2016 at Vincent Massey Park, Ottawa, Ontario. Noon to 8pm.  Free Admission. Music by Selekta, Shellz and other DJs. There will be Dominoes, limbo dancing, face painting, Guyanese food, performances and lots more.  Lodge Brothers BBQ
The Montreal Lodge Brothers will be hosting their BBQ on August 13th 2016 at Angrignon Park (metro Side). Food will be served from 1:00 to 5:00pm.
