Book Sale

The South Shore University Women’s Club will hold its 41sth Annual Fundraising Book Sale at St. Barnabas Church, 95 Lorne J4P 2G7, St. Lambert on:
Wednesday, August 5, Thursday August 6, and Friday August 7, from 5 pm to 9 pm
Saturday, August 8, from 9 am to 3 pm.
Profits from this sale will provide scholarships for women going to University.
There are thousands of books to choose from, nearly new and used, in French and English.

Black Coalition  Remembrance Evening

The Black Coalition of Quebec commemorates the International Day of Remembrance of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and its Abolition on August 22 with a grand event at Ciné Théatre Le Château,  6956 Saint-Denis (Metro Jean-Talon.) from 6pm
The evening which highlights “living our history through dance, songs and theatrical performances” includes performances from a line up of  top performing Montrealers including, Veeby, David Mezy, Ihozo and more with MC Keithy Antoine. For info (514) 489-3830.

Guyana Assoc Gala

The Guyana Cultural Association of Montreal invites Montrealers to celebrate with them at  their 48th Anniversary Gala at Eveagreen Reception Hall, 5011 Buchan on Saturday September 12.  Special entertainment by Hilton “Bamboo Fire” Hemerding,  Guyana’s Number 1 folk singer together with  by DJ Calm. LEAP Tea Party

LEAP (Lifestyle Empowerment Advancement Program) presents on Saturday September 12 from 2pm at 6767 Cote Des Neiges. Prizes for the best shoes, hats and lots of giveaways. Admission is $20

Jamaica Association Food Bank

The Jamaica Association would like to inform the community it serves that the food bank is back in operation at 4065 Jean Talon West.  Food will be distributed every Tuesday, staring at 11am.

Central Boyz

Central Boyz is organizing a family picnic on July 25 at Le Parc National Yamaska (Roxton Pound) located in the Eastern Townships. Transportation will be provided by school bus for people for $25. The bus leaves Victoria and Van Horne Mall in CDN at 9am and Dollard and Newman in LaSalle at 9:30 a.m. Return at 6pm

NCC & Royal Arthur Reunion Picnic

It has grown into a popular summertime event for our community  that draws friends and family together for a day of fun and excitement and stories about “back in the day.”
Many of these individuals and stories date way back into the early history of our community.
The NCC and Royal Arthur Picnic celebrate 5 years this year. It takes place o on July 25
at Angrignon Park from 10am -7pm.
All are invited.

Remebering Verna Seales
Light The Night Walk

Verna’s Angels would be holding a fundraising BBQ for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Verna Seales on Saturday July 25 at 70 Windermere DDO from 3-10pm. There will be hot dogs, burgers, chicken, trios and drinks all for a good cause. Additional donations will be welcomed and appreciated. This is a family event and children are welcomed.
