A Tribute to Community Builders on Sept. 11

Montreal Community CONTACT launches 25th Anniversary celebrations

Contact Staff

On September 11, Montreal Community CONTACT launches its 25th anniversary celebration with a Gala at the Crowne Plaza, 1252 Cote de Liesse Road TMR paying tribute to an exceptional group of Montrealers who have laid the foundation in the building of the Black and Caribbean community in Quebec.
We’re calling it A Tribute to Community Builders, and 15 of these individuals have been identified to be celebrated and honored.
It’s an exceptional group that has contributed significantly not only to our community but also to Montreal and Quebec.
Among this group of exceptional Montrealers are well-known icons such as Judge Juanita Westmoreland-Traore and Jazz Pianist Oliver Jones, but it also includes lesser-known individuals like entrepreneur Raymond Ramdas and educator Osborne Alleyne, and stalwarts such as Ivyline Fleming, Avice Roberts-Joseph, Thelma Johnson and Reverend Jim Bennett.
In choosing to pay tribute to these builders, many of whom made their contributions without fanfare or acclaim, Montreal Community Contact is hoping to inspire a new generation of leaders to take their place in the arduous task of advocacy and community development.
It’s expected to be a spectacular evening with a sit-down dinner, entertainment by leading performers and participation by leaders of business and politics.
Montrealers are invited to be part of this milestone celebration evening. Tickets are available from Judy at Judy Ushering Services, 514-249-6432 or at the CONTACT office: 514-489-4540.
