It was an astounding feat for 22-year-old Samantha Spence representing Jamaica at the annual Miss Montreal Carnival Queen extravaganza for an enthusiastic audience at Le Manoir on Saturday, June 6.
Performing an inspiring spoken word piece, Samantha easily copped the “best talent” segment of the show, along with best evening wear, Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality. In the end she walked away with the title of “Miss Montreal Queen Carnival Queen.”
Her prizes included a trip to the Miami Carnival and to the Vincy picnic in New York this summer.
First runner-up Miss Sophie Simoneau, representing Haiti, won for best swimsuit.
Second runner-up Miss Rudazia Benn representing S.V.G won People’s Choice.
Third runner-up Miss Leah Despotopolous (Barbados) walked away with the “Most Improved” award.
The show was well attended, and received.
The committee extends a special “thank you” to all the sponsors and supporters.
