Passing away on July 26, 2024, in Montreal, Quebec, her legacy remains indelible. Wilma’s spirit of determination led her to migrate to Montreal, Canada, in 1963, where she pursued higher education at Sir George Williams University. Her passion for fashion saw her evolving from a secretary in Trinidad & Tobago into a model dazzling international shows in Paris, France. She eventually transitioned to a successful career as a fashion designer and boutique owner, leaving a long lasting mark on the industry. Wilma’s sucess as a fashion designer and boutique owner afforded her to take care of her children and support family and friends. Her tenacity and protection of her family were legendary, and she emerged as a respected pillar of her community through her kindness and service. A significant part of her journey involved reuniting her family in Montreal, showing her relentless dedication to family unity. She was known for her open-door policy in Little Burgundy, where her home became a sanctuary of delicious food, heartfelt conversations, and joyous dancing for friends and family. Her faith deeply influenced her life, guiding her back to her Christian roots, where she dedicated her later years to serving God, helping those who needed guidance and assistance, and supporting her community. Survived by her sister Rebecca Abraham and cousins Rose Williams, Edward Williams and Bernice Williams. Her children: Mark Williams, Lisa Brathwaite and Karen Lacrette.
