On Saturday October 25, Hundreds turned out to a Dinner Award Gala Ceremony under the theme Retrospection…Then and Now, to mark the Silver anniversary of Dance Caribe Performing Company.
For 25 years the group under the direction of founder, director and choreographer Martin Scott Pascall has been a cultural force of ambassador of Caribbean and African dance in Canada and across North America and beyond.
As part of the celebration, Dance Caribe recognized several individuals and organizations that have supported their work and contributed to furthering the culture of the Caribbean community over the last 25 years.
Among the recipients were Montreal’s West Can Folk Performing Company and Gemma Raeburn-Baynes, president of A Taste of the Caribbean.
Entertainment was provided by Roger Pascall and the Frontline Drummers for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and of course, Dance Caribe Performing Company.
