19-year-old Grenadian Kittisha Doyle became the Cycle 2 Caribbean’s Next Top Model in December 2015.
After 11 weeks of intense competition, the six-foot tall Grenadian-born model, with her charm and slim physique, beat out 20 contestants from across the Caribbean to cop the title of “Next Top Model” along with a cash prize of US$25,000, an international modelling agency contract, a cover feature and editorial in SHE magazine, and a movie role in the film “Cerulean.”
The young Grenadian beauty, the 8th of 14 children hailing from a small village in St. Patrick’s, Grenada, said a close friend sent her picture to Caribbean fashion expert Richard Young in Trinidad, but she was not expecting to get a call back.
“I was green as grass, but I learnt everything they taught me and I knew what I was there for,” she said in a recent interview on Grenada television. “It was a great experience and lots of fun.”
Caribbean’s Next Top Model is produced by Miss Universe 1998, Wendy Fitzwilliam, of Trinidad and Tobago. It is a reality television competition based on the original production of CBS America’s Next Top Model.
“When I think of the young ladies who came to this competition and their desire to become number one, the Caribbean’s Next Top Model, I am moved by their growth as young women, and how they have come into their own under our tutelage,” Fitzwilliam says. “But I am especially excited about Kittisha. Her development over the course of the cycle from a fledgling young beauty into a confident model is certainly impressive. She’s like a diamond in the rough. She came in as a shy young woman with raw talent who was determined to learn every step of the way. Her focus remained steadfast on improving her own performance, the ultimate weapon for success in this competition, this industry and life. The level of confidence that she has developed and the knowledge garnered from this experience has certainly prepared her to take the world catwalk by storm,” said Fitzwilliam.
