Amidst the glitz and glamour of the event, friendship took centre stage at the Crowne Plaza, the spectacularly decorated Plaza Valerie, as Judy’s Ushering brought a roomful of Montrealers together for an evening of elegance.
The highlight, of course, was the glowing tribute paid to six Montrealers who were identified as friends of the community.
Among those recognized were Ms Thelma Johnson, founder of the Pioneer Women Association of Canada; Mr. Osborne Allen, who founded the Cote des Neiges Child Care Centre well over four decades ago; Harry Bissoon, a long-established travel agent; Pamela Dass; who is an emerging force in Montreal’s real estate industry; long-time community organizer Gemma Raeburn-Baynes and Bishop Woodrow Thompson of the Church of God of Prophesy.
The evening also included performances by comedian Andrew Searles, dancer Maia Alleyne and the return of Rossy and Andrew Whiteman and Wayne Stoute and popular band, Jab Jab.
