Fifteen years after opening their doors, Bountiful Blessings a west island based charitable organization continues to be a force for good in the lives many Montrealers who are struggling on the margins of society.

“We’re doing our best to reach out to people in need,” says Mark Henry, who recently took on a leadership role in the organization, which is a subsidiary of Wisdom and Life Apostolic Church (WLA).

“Our mission is to break down social barriers in our community by feeding the hungry, educating individuals through our various workshops.”

Henry, a well-respected entrepreneur and community leader (president of the Jamaica Association of Montreal) sees Bountiful Blessings as another pillar in building a community that’s able to provide assistance not only to the vulnerable among us but also to our neighbours.
At an after-church reception with a handful of invited guests recently, he outlined the organization’s four-prong outreach program that include that include community care, senior services wellness management and youth development.
Since it was established in 2008, Bountiful Blessings’ volunteers have been carrying out monthly missions of sharing food with the homeless across the city as well as organizing food and toy drives to assist low-income families and the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
The charitable organization grew out of WLA’s outreach initiative and was established by the church’s spiritual leader Pastor Andrew Henry who recognized the need to extend its ministry beyond its walls.
Among the other volunteers at Bountiful Blessing are: Gina Cortina, Athlin Olivierre, Gary R. Allen and Tahsa Jack
Pastor Henry and his brother Mark say with so many people seeking a hand up, Bountiful Blessings commits itself to being part of the solution.
And youth development is in their sights.
They have a Scholarship Excellence Awards for students, and their Back-to-School drives provide school supplies to students in need. As well, their educational workshops that focus on building better futures.
Also, the organization has recently set up a computer lab and is offering to partner with any community organization that need looking to broaden its network or train its membership.
