Always a rallying point for culture, the Caribbean Curry House is cooking up a plan to help the two university radio stations, CKUT 90.3 and CJLO 1410 AM, whose community-based programming makes them invaluable institutions for Black and Caribbean people in Montreal.
So on Saturday, September 12, the Curry House is opening its gates at 6892 Victoria Street for a Back-Yard Bar-B-Que to raise funds for the two stations.
According to Emrith Kalliecharan, second-in-command at the popular Montreal restaurant, the stations have been a vital part of our community for many years, and as not-for-profit institutions it’s important for us to extend a helping hand to them when we can.
He says the event, which goes on rain or shine will include lots of food and drinks and non-stop entertainment. It starts at 12 noon and runs up to 7PM.
Both stations will also be on hand doing live broadcasts: CJLO from 12 to 4 PM and CKUT from 4 PM to 7 PM. Info. 514-733-0828.
