About Us

Celebrating over 30 years of community-centered journalism and empowerment in Montreal.

Our Story

Founded in 1992 by Egbert Gaye, Montreal Community Contact is a community-based newspaper rooted in the Black and Caribbean experience in Quebec. For more than three decades, we’ve delivered relevant, community-centered journalism covering news, culture, business, arts, and diaspora life.

We are more than just a publication; we are a platform for voices often underrepresented in mainstream media. Our mission is to connect readers to the stories that matter most, celebrate our shared heritage, and provide vital resources and opportunities for growth and engagement.

Our Core Values

Community First

Everything we do is centered around uplifting and connecting the English-speaking Black community in Montreal.

Empowerment

We provide resources, information, and opportunities that help our community thrive.

Trust & Integrity

We are committed to honest, reliable, and community-centered journalism.

Cultural Pride

We celebrate our rich heritage, arts, culture, and the achievements of our people.

A Legacy of Community Empowerment

Under the visionary leadership of our founder, Egbert Gaye, Montreal Community Contact has grown from a local newsletter to a trusted institution and a pillar of the community.
